A little about me

I'm Hannah Duncan, owner/operator of Fetch the Pet, providing professional

and fun dog walking to the EH4 district of Edinburgh since 2015.

Animals have always been my passion, having had a variety of different pets

growing up but dogs have always been my main love.

In 2013 I graduated from the University of Stirling with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology.

My main focus in this degree was animal psychology which led to me concentrate

my dissertation on providing enrichment to animals in order to improve their

wellbeing and stimulate their minds. I believe that this degree helps me in my work

today as it has given me an insight into the psychology of dogs and ways to stimulate

and enrich their lives.

Since leaving University I have undertaken two courses in order to gain more knowledge and understanding about dogs and their behaviour. The first course was Canine Behavioural Training which covered a range of topics from the social structure of dogs to how their brains work. It provided an overview of the most up to date proven methods of dog communication and training while enabling me to recognise key body language, gestures and signals. I am currently studying another course regarding Dog Behaviour and Training. This course also offers a wide variety of topics such as understanding dog's instinctive behaviour, breed differences and the importance of exercise and socialising. I feel that these courses have enabled me to better understand dogs' needs and to get a good grounding of canine behaviour. I enjoy learning about dogs and I learn more and more every day through my work.
